An easy one to start with is Google’s Adsense. Google examines your site and pages and works out which of it’s adverts are most suitable for your web site content. By doing this it tries to display advertisements that are most likely to be related to your blog’s readers. Your account then makes money because your visitors click on these adverts to go to the advertisers - with the majority of these clicks earning you money. How much you earn is determined directly by how many clicks your adverts are getting and what your website is about. Some subjects earn far more per click than other subjects.

Another system that is popular Amazon. With this setup you can advertise specific items from within their catalogue or you choose to have their system show their choice of products from your selected keyword. You just enter a keyword and they give the books (or other ranges, if you wish) that are appropriate to that keyword. On a blog this might mean just using one keyword to cover the entire site, but that shouldn’t be an issue. You can also show more specific links on individual posts. Here you are making money every time a new customer clicks on to the Amazon web site and then goes on to buy a book.

ClickBank is can be a popular choice, this time selling electronic downloaded e-books. As with Amazon you can show specific e-books or use a frame that has all e-books that are related to a keyword. Again, you are making an income with each purchase made as a result of a click on your site.

General affiliate schemes are another opportunity, but I highlight the above three schemes as they offer something that most of the others don’t offer - they aren’t geographically dependent. Most affiliate schemes are only able to handle traffic from their own country, as sending items to another country causes headaches. Google gets around this by providing adverts only related to the country the visitor is in, whilst ClickBank can happily sell to most countries, as it is providing the items electronically. But if you are very specific and not anticipating many visitors from outside of your own country, then there are certainly a whole choice of affiliate schemes for you to belong to and take part in.

Lastly, there are a good choice of pay per post web sites. Not without their own issues, here you earn money for writing a post within your blog that is a referral to the advertiser. The fees vary, depending on the campaign and your own blog. But you can typically only become a member of such services with an established blog. Blogs must be typically 90 days old. The total your blog can earn depends on its subject matter, the advertisers and how many paid posts you are able to write.
