Make it easy for people to make you famous by tagging your blog.
March 11, 2010 |
every so often at the base of an article in a blog you’ll see a link that says something similar to this:
“Did You enjoy This Article? Bookmark it at Del.icio.us” OR “Digg this article” OR “Bookmark this by onlywire.com”
Providing such links makes it very painless for readers to spread the work regarding your article.
Some blog owners make available a choice of social networking and social bookmarking links or graphics at the conclusion of their articles.
You can get hold of a long list of social bookmarking sites by searching google.com and you can get code you can insert to your blog template to make tagging easier. Using a tagging service like Technorati attracts persons to your blog.
You mark your blog with a tag, such as “pet food”. Any Technorati user who has subscribed to that tag will be notified each occasion you make a post on your blog about pet food.
Social bookmarking sites permit you to share your bookmarks publicly, tagging them to enable others to get them. If people who visit these sites decide your pages are worth distribution they will bookmark and tag them so that other people can find them.
You can also share an RSS feed of your bookmarks. When you add a bookmark, they learn about it automatically.
If you take the time to design genuinely USEFUL collections of bookmarks, individuals will be more prone to use them.
The Internet population is just starting to catch on to the enormous potential of using social bookmarking tagging to get high quality links to your site from authority sites. There are fundamentally two types of tags - the ones you place on your blog and the ones you place on social bookmarking sites.
You can produce what is called your “authority site network”. For maximum effectiveness, I advise you do both.
Here’s my advice: If you’re going to set up “authority” pages on social bookmarking sites, tread cautiously. It’s a bit like entering a new forum where you don’t know the rules. DON’T spam these spaces. Create pages which include useful, pertinent content. Then get links to those pages.
